Event Barista

Position Overview

We’re looking for a confident, hospitality-driven Event Barista to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll serve high-quality espresso beverages at a wide variety of events while creating memorable guest experiences. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves connecting with people, and takes pride in their craft.

Key Responsibilities

Hospitality & Guest Experience

  • Deliver warm, engaging, and professional service to event guests and clients
  • Create a welcoming atmosphere through conversation, attentiveness, and enthusiasm
  • Represent Messenger Coffee LA with confidence and professionalism at all times

Coffee & Beverage Preparation

  • Prepare and serve a standard espresso-based menu with consistency and care
  • Maintain quality in espresso extraction, milk texturing, and beverage presentation
  • Uphold visual standards, including clean workspaces and polished latte art

Efficiency & Speed

  • Manage high-volume service (50–70+ drinks per hour) without sacrificing quality
  • Stay organized and calm during peak service times

Equipment & Cleanliness

  • Set up, break down, and maintain cleanliness of espresso machines, grinders, and bar tools
  • Follow proper cleaning and maintenance procedures before, during, and after events

Inventory & Operations

  • Track inventory during multi-day events and follow established restocking processes
  • Support smooth transitions between event days

Teamwork & Independence

  • Work effectively as part of a team or independently, depending on event staffing
  • Communicate clearly with fellow baristas and event leads

Flexibility & Adaptability

  • Adjust to different venues, schedules, guest preferences, and event formats
  • Maintain professionalism in new or changing environments

Qualifications

  • Previous barista or customer service experience preferred
  • Foundational knowledge of espresso preparation and milk steaming or strong willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while staying positive and detail-oriented
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move equipment and supplies as needed
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to drive a company van as required for events
